New labels are being introduced for fridges, freezers, washing machines, washer-dryers, dishwashers, TV and electronic screens as of 1 March and for light sources as of 1 September. All other products will get new energy labels by 2030 at the latest.

The new labels will be simpler and easier to understand. Labels from A to G will be used for all products. In the upper right corner, they will have a QR code providing direct contact with the European Commission database to support transparency and easier supervision of the market by national authorities.

A product’s energy consumption will be displayed more prominently and uniformly in the middle of the label.

The new system of labelling the energy efficiency of domestic appliances was adopted in mid-2017 and is regulated by a European Parliament and European Council regulation from the same year.

In order to help markets transition to the new energy labels, the LABEL 2020 project was launched in June 2019. It lasts until January 2023. The Hrvoje Požar Energy Institute is in charge of the project in Croatia.
