October the 6th, 2026 – Hotel Atrium in Split has undergone an impressive transformation with a team of experienced experts at the helm.
The five-star Hotel Atrium in Split has been given a new face after the first major investment in interior design and furnishing since its opening. Poslovni reports that the hotel’s newly refreshed spaces, carefully selected materials and new equipment are part of a strategic investment with which the hotel is raising the quality of the stay and further developing its offer for business guests and wellness lovers.
Behind the investment stands Plavi Safir d.o.o., the parent company within which, in addition to Atrium, Amphora and Amphora’s Garden also operate. The three hotels operate under the common brand Safir Hotels, the largest hotel group in Split with its own management at all levels. The investment in Atrium continues the development of the group, whose properties play an important role in the city’s hotel offer.
The new design was a collaboration between designer Maja Buljan from the studio LUMAR design and Cult, a Split-based group with experience in furnishing numerous Croatian hotels. Cult took over the complete furnishing of the bathrooms, the supply and installation of cladding, and the cladding of the fireplace in the lobby. Its team was involved in the project development, proposing materials and seeking implementation solutions together with the designer.
“In the Atrium hotel renovation project I was responsible for the interior design of all 129 rooms with their associated bathrooms, as well as common areas such as the lobby, reception, bar, pastry shop, restaurant and wellness. My goal was for the interior to have character and recognisability, but at the same time not to impose itself on the guest, rather to calm them and provide a sense of luxury that is primarily felt and only then seen,” designer Buljan emphasised.
“By investing in the furnishing of Hotel Atrium we are raising the quality of the offer and strengthening its competitiveness. Our goal is to achieve the special ‘Meetings’ and ‘Health and Fitness’ standards and to further develop congress and wellness facilities. In this way we will better respond to the needs of business guests, event organisers and guests seeking rest and recreation. We want to attract a wider circle of guests and offer them more reasons to come to Split throughout the year,” says Bruno Nizić, executive director of the Safir Hotels group.
How extensive the project was is also shown by the quantities of materials installed. Approximately 4,550 square metres of Laminam cladding were used for Atrium, of which around 3,800 square metres were large-format slabs and an additional 750 square metres of smaller dimensions. Berry Alloc floor coverings were installed in the rooms, while special attention was paid to the bathrooms, where the guest comes into contact with almost every selected element on a daily basis.
Approximately 230 Laufen washbasins were installed along with Hansgrohe showers and mixers, Quare shower trays, Relax shower cabins and Etrusca bathroom mirrors. The selection was accompanied by the demanding work of coordinating delivery, installation and finishing details.
It is precisely here, they explain at Cult, that the experience of working on hotel projects comes to the fore. In addition to the appearance of the space, it is necessary to think in good time about its functionality, maintenance and intensive everyday use.
“Our work begins with understanding what the investor and the designer want to achieve. In a hotel one must think in advance about functionality, maintenance, durability and the method of installation of every element. Experience from previous projects enables us to anticipate possible difficulties and propose solutions while it is still easy to adapt them. At Atrium we were constantly by the designer’s side, jointly developing the details and monitoring their implementation. It is precisely in this collaboration that our knowledge and experience gain concrete value,” says Željko Tukić, head of the Cult group, who also took this opportunity to thank Ivana Šuto, member of the management board of Safir Hotels, for the trust placed in them for one of the most significant projects in Split’s hospitality industry.
Cult, in addition to supplying premium materials, specialises in design, supervision and installation. Its offer includes more than a hundred European brands, including a number that it represents exclusively. The selection covers bathroom equipment, floor and wall coverings, pools, wellness zones, radiators, doors and designer furniture, and investors have access to expert support in aligning them with the project, budget and implementation requirements.
Atrium thus joins Cult’s portfolio, which includes AC Hotel Split by Marriott, Hotel Ambasador, The Isolano Autograph Collection by Marriott, Molum Hotel & Residences and Hotel Sumratin. Among its references are also Mövenpick Hotel & Residences Kvarner Bay, the Amfora and Sirena hotels on Hvar, and properties from the Valamar and Bluesun groups, along with a number of luxury villas and tourism investments. Working on different hotel concepts has enabled Cult to develop the knowledge needed for demanding projects, from the initial selection of materials to their final application.
