November the 6th, 2026 – Finance Minister Tomislav Ćorić has revealed that he expects inflation in Croatia will drop at the beginning of 2027.
Finance Minister Tomislav Ćorić has stated that he expects the inflation rate in Croatia to fall rapidly in 2027, adding that he believes it would already be below two percent now if the rise in energy prices were excluded from the calculation. Index reports that Minister Ćorić said the above at the traditional consultation “Economic Policy of Croatia in 2027” held in Opatija. “We absolutely expect a slowdown in inflation in 2027. Our projections clearly show that. Compared to the projected 4.5 percent average for this year, we expect a rapid drop during 2027,” the finance minister stated.
he hopes for calm regarding the strait of hormuz

Responding to journalists’ questions, Tomislav Ćorić expressed hope that on the global scene there will be forces, understanding and goodwill to calm the situation in the Strait of Hormuz and to re-establish the normal flow of oil and oil derivatives, which would then also affect the reduction of prices on world markets.
“Of course, we can’t have any influence over that; the influence of the European Union as a whole in that acute crisis is minimal. I believe that the coming period will bring calm, and whether the result of these elections that we had the opportunity to follow yesterday in the USA will also influence that, we will yet see,” Ćorić said. He recalled that the relevant data indicate that the energy crisis caused by the conflict between the USA and Iran affected the share of energy products in total inflation, because of which he assessed that the CBS estimate is expected.
CBS data shows that the estimated annual inflation rate for energy is 20.7 percent, while the rate for food, drinks and tobacco amounted to 0.2 percent back in October. “The energy products segment in the structure of inflation is very dominant. In the other product segments we do not have significant inflationary movements and that exclusively indicates the fact that the domestic components of inflation at this moment are under control. If there were not this shock that we have in the part of energy prices, inflation in the Republic of Croatia at this moment would actually be at a level below 2 percent,” the finance minister said.
He explained that the gradual de-escalation of the conflict that he expects over the coming months should consequently bring a reduction in energy prices. In turn, that should lead to a significant drop in inflation in Croatia at the beginning of 2027.
the government will continue to “protect” people from inflation

He stated that in 2027, the Croatian Government will take every possible measure to try to maintain the combination of economic growth and fiscal discipline. “That combination over the past decade has brought very good results for Croatia and we’ll continue going in the same direction,” he said, adding that economic growth next year in Croatia will be significantly above the European average. He emphasised that in the next multiannual European financial framework, the government’s primary focus will be on increasing the competitiveness and productivity of the Croatian economy. He also announced that the government will continue to “protect the public” from the consequences of inflation.
