The recommendation was accepted by both Rapska plovidba and Jadrolinija.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes on the 12th of January, 2018, with the aim of encouraging increased passenger traffic and certain categories of passenger cars on the islands outside of the main tourist season, an agreement with the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure has been reached and a pilot project to reduce the cost of ferry tickets by 20 percent on weekends, meaning from Friday through to Sunday, has been prepared.
The ministry announced on Thursday that this measure will be implemented from the 19th of January to the 19th of March this year, and the recommendation was accepted and approved by both Rapska plovidba and Jadrolinija.
Thus, on ferry lines operated by these shipping companies, a 20 percent lower cost will be paid by adults and children aged from three to twelve, the 20 percent lower cost will also include personal cars with up to nine seats, up to five meters in length or two meters in height, cars with up to nine seats over the specified length or height, motorcycles and mopeds, motorcycles with trailers, tricycles, quadricycles, and bicycles.
Depending on the outcome of the implementation of this recommendation, the ministry has announced that it will also consider the possibility of further application and extending the time period for the cheaper tickets, with particular attention being paid to the indicators of increased ship capacity utilisation and the financial impact of the recommendation.
