Jadrolinija Goes Ahead with 50 Million Euro Vessel!

An expensive new bit of kit for Jadrolinija!

As Poslovni Dnevnik reports on the 13th of August, 2017, Jadrolinija has confirmed that the concept design of Jadrolinija’s new ship to connect the outer islands with the mainland, at an estimated cost of as much as 50 million euros, has been completed in recent days.

The first 3D computer visualisation of the ship, a modern vessel that will be able to navigate in demanding open sea conditions on the Adriatic has been created.

The 10,000 tonne gross tonnage boat will be 120 meters long and possess a holding capacity of up to 220 vehicles and one and a half thousand passengers, it will also be equipped with two large saloons with catering and other accompanying amenities and facilities.

The basic idea is that the new ship will be able to properly deal with the often harsh conditions of open sea sailing, as well as properly connect destinations where sailing would otherwise take five to six hours with inconvenient embarking and disembarking having to occur several times. When talking about the outlying islands, it should be noted that it isn’t just Lastovo and Vis who fall into the category, but also Korčula and Hvar.

”With this brand new ship, Jadrolinija intends to replace the ”Lastovo” ship, which was built back in 1970 and has a carrying capacity of just 60 vehicles” says Alan Klanac, Managing Director of Jadrolinija.
