Konavle Hands Over Prevlaka Fortress Management to DPDS

Good news for Prevlaka Fortress as the Konavle Municipality hands over the management to the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities.

An end to a long road of waiting for the neglected and delapidated Prevlaka Fortress at the most extreme southern point of Croatia as the Municipality of Konavle hands over the rights to its management to the Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities (DPDS) for a period of twenty years.

As Dubrovacki Dnevnik writes on the 17th of January, 2018, Niko Kapetanić of DPDS and Konavle’s Božo Lasić signed a contract on the hand over of the fortress’ management on Wednesday the 17th of January, 2018 at Villa Banac in the coastal town of Cavtat.

The Society of Friends of Dubrovnik Antiquities has, as it was announced previously, long since committed itself to not only the rendering of the very much neglected fortress, but the opening of an aquarium and a collection of Austro-Hungarian naval/maritime memorabilia.

The handing over of the rights to the management of the fortress is excellent news for the wider area’s heritage as the fortress is very much wasting away.
