Young Karla, aged just 11, among IKEA designers.
On Monday, November 9, 2015 IKEA stores around the world will start selling a limited collection of toys made as part of the Toys for Education campaign, reports Poslovni.hr. This collection is unique since all the toys have been designed by children who drew the toys of their dreams. Among the thousands of submitted drawings, IKEA has chosen the top ten and turned them into a special, limited edition of toys. IKEA department store in Zagreb has for the first time participated in this project and has enabled children of members of the IKEA FAMILY program to draw toys from their own imagination. Among the ten best ideas, IKEA has chosen a toy designed by Karla from Croatia, who drew a one-eyed blue monster which will help educate poor children around the world.
“We are extremely happy that among the thousands of children’s drawings, Karla’s design has been selected as one of the winning ones, and we are proud that we will offer in our department store the toy designed in Croatia. These toys which have been produced based on children’s drawings are truly entertaining and imaginative, but they also have a special significance since during the campaign the IKEA Foundation will for each purchased toy or children’s book in any IKEA department store in the world donate one euro to UNICEF and Save the Children organization, which are implementing projects for the education of children living in poverty. This means that children are helping other children around the world to build a better future for themselves”, Igor Štefanac, public relations manager of IKEA Croatia, explained.
IKEA invites children of members of the IKEA FAMILY club to send new drawings from 9 to 22 November. The best drawings will next year again be turned into a new collection of toys. The toys which were designed by children last year will be available at the IKEA department store in Zagreb starting on Monday, November 9.
All those who wish to join the Toys for Education campaign, which aims to raise funds for the education of children living in poverty, can visit the IKEA department store in Zagreb from 9 November to 28 December and purchase one of the toys or children’s books offered by IKEA.
