Croatian City-Building App Featured by Apple’s App Store

The My City app is one of the featured apps in the games category.

The largest Croatian producer of mobile games, Nanobit, has a new successful app, which has been highlighted by Apple in its App Store in the category of games, reports Poslovni.hr on July 24, 2018.

Nanobit announced that its new game, “My City – Entertainment Tycoon”, has been featured by the App Store, which is a great opportunity for fast growth since Apple’s store is the largest app market in the world. Last year, the App Store sales jumped by 35 percent to 38.5 billion dollars, which is close to three quarters of Croatia’s GDP. The fiercest competition is in the category of games since 77% of app downloaded and bought belong to that category.

This achievement is especially important since the featured position in the AppStore cannot be bought, and is a result of the app’s quality and Apple’s assessment that its users are looking just for such an app.

Tomislav Gojević, Nanobit’s business development manager, says that many users decided to download My City – Entertainment Tycoon after the Apple’s move. “We have tens of thousands of downloads per day, and users tend to continue playing the game,” Gojević points out.

He adds that entering the App Store featured list is a combination of several factors. On the one hand, this is a consequence of the quality of Nanobit’s previous apps. “But there is also the uniqueness of this game and the effort and energy which we invested in the past two years to develop the app,” says Gojević, adding that they have a direct contact with Apple. “People in charge of AppStore visited our office in April and we regularly participate in their workshops organized across Europe,” says Gojević.

The new Nanobit app belongs to the city-building category, apps similar to SimCity. However, the Zagreb development studio has added a touch of Croatian economy to its 3D mobile game and therefore users have the opportunity to build a city that will attract as many tourists as possible.

Gojević explains that the task is to manage the city, solve the daily problems of citizens, build new neighbourhoods and develop infrastructure. As in the real world, the user as a mayor can make decisions on everything that is happening in the city, as well as the strategy: whether the town will become a tourist destination or will rather focus on financial services industry.

Nanobit’s games have been downloaded over 80 million times so far. “We are now at about 69 million downloads on AppStore and 13.9 million on Google Play,” Gojević concludes.
