Modern technology shows drivers the importance of moderate alcohol consumption.

The Zagrebačka Pivovara brewery has developed the first Croatian mobile app for responsible alcohol consumption – RAZMISLI, which uses modern technology to show drivers the importance of moderate alcohol consumption. Dismal traffic accident statistics have prompted Zagrebačka Pivovara, as the leading Croatian brewery, to try to increase public awareness, especially among young drivers who most often use mobile apps, about the unacceptability of alcohol consumption and driving, reports Agrobiz on December 20, 2017.

In a survey commissioned by Zagrebačka Pivovara, more than 35 percent of respondents admitted to driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol at least once. As much as nine percent of the participants in the survey stated that they had been involved in a road accident which was a consequence of alcohol consumption.

According to the Interior Ministry, in the first ten months of this year, people driving under the influence caused 3,659 accidents, of which 67 were accidents with fatalities. Most drivers who were caught driving while under the influence were those in the 18 to 34 age group.

Zagrebačka Pivovara wanted to include in the app several capabilities for users to test the ability of drivers before entering the vehicle. The app includes a calculator of the level of alcohol in the blood, given the profile which each user can make for themselves. There is also a call-for-transport option, which promotes safe transportation and enables easy call for a taxi or to a designated driver without having to dial from the phonebook of the phone. The app includes an interesting “test your skills” game which quickly assesses user’s memory and reflexes. Weakened reflexes can be fatal for traffic safety, especially in the case of alcohol consumption, and a simple game in the app allows users, after just a few moves, to assess their reaction speed.

The app was presented by Zagrebačka Pivovara’s corporate communications manager Tina Puhalo. “As the leader in the Croatian beer industry, we are aware that we have, not only a responsibility but also an obligation to be the leader in encouraging responsible and moderate consumption of alcohol. We have launched the first campaign on responsible consumption of alcohol RAZMISLI. The main idea of ​​the app is to shock users, to make them aware of possible consequences of driving while under the influence of alcohol, especially for young drivers,” she said.
