This Weekend, Gastro Get Introduces Top Croatian Chefs, Creative Bakalar Combos, and Gramophone Parties!

This one is for all of you Split foodies – a delicious weekend in the ‘ Get’ awaits!

As we head into the holiday weekend, we have even more excuse to eat, drink, and be merry. Lucky for all of us in Spit, there are plenty ways to amplify our holiday spirit to ensure we get the most out of everything this season has to offer. One sure way to do that? Gastro Get.

You might have heard us drop a line (or 10) about one of the tasty perks of this year’s Advent, Gastro Get. And this weekend, restaurants in the ‘Ghetto’ are pulling out all of the stops to ensure your Christmas bellies are bursting the buttons on your trousers with unique and creative concoctions based on traditional holiday favorites. 

To refresh your memory, Gastro Get is comprised of restaurants located in Split’s ‘Ghetto’ – Uje Oil Bar, Mazzgoon, and O’zlata – and bars Galerija and Rodrigo. This year, with the support of both the Split Tourist Board and City for the first time, Gastro Get participants explore the regions of Croatia through its gastronomy. The first weekend, which opened with dinners at O’zlata and Mazzgoon, saw creations inspired by our Islands, while the second weekend cruised up the coast to take a bite out of Istrian cuisine. 

This weekend, foodies will have the chance to experience the flavors of a Croatian Christmas as Gastro Get dives into the tasty traditions of the season. 

It all begins with O’zlata on Thursday, December 21st. A star-studded dinner with a twist on this weekend’s theme, O’zlata has organized a culinary event with the “4 Musketeers”. These 4 Musketeers, you might be wondering, include a star-studded cast of Croatia’s top chefs and honored journalists. Chefs Braco Sanjin, Ivan Pažanin, Hrvoje Zirojević and Slobodna Dalmacija columnist Zlatko Gall will be in the kitchen, taking hungry visitors on a culinary journey paired with the wineries of Kaštela (Matela, Bedalov, Perišin, and Novak). Friday, December 22nd, Gastro Get heads to Split favorite Uje Oil Bar for a festive party. An evening of traditional and not so traditional creations of Bakalar (yes, our wonderfully smelly dried Cod), Uje will further enrich the evening with a Gramophone party and free rakija and fritule! If you’re looking to eat, drink, and maybe even tap your feet to a bit of music, this event is definitely one you won’t want to miss. For Friday night reservations, call 091/2008220.

And last but never least, Gastro Get’s Christmas weekend closes with a Bakalar-filled evening at Mazzgoon Food. Featuring guest chefs Žana Alfirević from Cafe Bar Bistro No Stress, Željan Radman from the legendary and cult Split restaurant Pimpinella, and of course, the trusted kitchen of Mazzgoon, this evening will dive into our famous Bakalar prepared in four different ways. We hear that the bakalar sarma (think our traditional cabbage rolls with a fish-twist) and Bakalar tortillas are destined to be a big hit. For Saturday night reservations, call 098 987 7780.
