A new chocolate souvenir celebrating the proud heritage of Rijeka.
Rijeka now has another souvenir, connected to its ancient heritage –a stylized bull head, based on the results of archaeological research activities in the Old Town, made with a help of a 3D printer. The project was implemented in cooperation with the Technical Faculty in Rijeka, with the stylized bull’s head printed in 3D in plastic mass and in chocolate, reports Novilist on December 3, 2015.
Mayor of Rijeka Vojko Obersnel expressed his satisfaction with another original souvenir stemming from Rijeka’s history combined with the latest technologies, which represents an interesting combination. He also tasted the chocolate which he rated as extremely delicious. “This project is another in a series of events which show that Rijeka has always had an interesting life and represented a port of diversity, ever since Roman times. This interesting souvenir which speaks about the history of Rijeka during the Roman times can be kept on a shelf, but it can be eaten as well”, Obersnel said.
The stylized bull’s head will be printed in 3D in plastic or in chocolate in cooperation with Cukerin Confectionery. The project was conceived in cooperation with the Technical Faculty in Rijeka. Sven Maričić from the Faculty pointed out that they have been working on this project for almost two years and that it is the first step in raising awareness about the ancient heritage of Rijeka, as well as a signpost to new technologies which can help make our lives better. “By merging technology and cultural heritage with this souvenir, we have created an interesting dialogue between two different segments”, Maričić said.
The director of Rijeka Tourist Board Petar Škarpa noted that November was a month of Rijeka souvenirs. “This is the fifth souvenir in the last 30 days. Almost every week we present at least one new souvenir, so Rijeka now has more than 200 souvenirs which carry the label ‘Authentically from Rijeka’. All these souvenirs are perfect gifts for the holiday season and it would be nice for all citizens of Rijeka to give them as presents to their guests and friends who do not live in our town”, Škarpa said.
