Wemy, Croatian Clothing Selection App, Attracts First Investors

More exciting innovation from Croatia, this time in clothing.

Wemy, Croatian app which helps you select clothing combinations, was presented during the regular Startup Wednesday and it has already attracted its first investor, a member of the Croatian Business Angels Network Hrvoje Prpić, reports Tportal on February 11, 2016.

The application was created by a team of young developers from Zagreb. Users put on the clothing outfit they want to use, take a photo of themselves, and then they upload the photo to the app, so that other users, who are complete strangers and who do not know anything about the person involved, give their hopefully honest assessments.

So far, Wemy has received by far the best feedback from young people, but it wants to become an application which will help members of all generations in choosing their personal style. It would like to become an indispensable adviser while people are preparing for a night out or when they go to buy some new clothes. The app became available in an Android version yesterday, while an iOS version is expected to launch very soon.

“Wemy is potentially a viral application. It is a direct competitor to Instagram, which is now the third most widespread social network in the world. If teenagers like it, it could start a revolution in the field of clothing selection. Teenagers are slowly leaving social networks which have become commercial like Facebook, and are going to some niche networks like Snapchat. I think Wemy has the potential to do the same with regards to Instagram and to attract teenagers away from that social network”, said Hrvoje Prpić.

Croatian Business Angels Network is an organization which brings together private investors who are interested in investing in innovative companies in the early stages of development. The Network was founded in 2008, and in the last seven years of successful operation it has facilitated over 30 investments worth more than 23 million kuna.
