The aim of the e-Files project is to finally complete the unification of all the data in the primary health care, hospital medical records, and all the other parts of the health care system. Integrated data are a prerequisite which will enable the full insight into the health of every individual, said on Sunday the health minister Siniša Varga, reports Slobodna Dalmacija on August 30, 2015.

The project is managed by the Croatian Institute for Health Insurance, in cooperation with Ericsson Nikola Tesla.

Responding to a reporter’s question about the data protection, minister Varga stressed that there is no fear of potential leak of medical information. He gave an argument that in all the years since the healthcare information system has been introduced in Croatia, it has complied with all international standards for data protection. Varga insisted that the system is more secure even than the banking system.

He also announced that in mid-September the first flights of helicopters to provide emergency medical assistance will begin. The reason for the delay is the fact that the staff needs to complete training. Varga said that the introduction of the helicopters, which will act as small intensive care units, represents an advance in medical emergency services, but expressed hope that there will not be much need for such medical interventions.

“It is important that they are ready to solve problems during the so-called ‘golden hour’ which is why this small mobile intensive medical care units exist”, concluded the minister.

The minister gave his remarks during the tour of the Špancirfest festival in Varaždin. He visited the Red Cross emergency clinic located in the center of the town. This is the first time that such clinic has been opened for the visitors of this highly popular festival which takes place every year in Varaždin.
