Another Dramatic Twist: MOST Decides to Break Up Negotiations with SDP

Total Croatia News

Who needs Game of Thrones when you have politicians in Croatia trying to form a government?

After consultations with the President, MOST leader Božo Petrov came visibly displeased to the MOST headquarters. When asked what happened with the President, Petrov replied: “Nothing happened there, but something happened before that. I have an urgent meeting of the National Council. I will see you later”, reports Index.hr on December 22, 2015.

Just half an hour later he said: “At this time, negotiations with Croatia Is Growing coalition are over. They have stolen our members of parliament, from Petrina to Prgomet. We had believed that we can continue negotiations with them, even after they called us fascists… But what happened now, during the last 48 hours, when SDP started calling our members of parliament and seeking their individual support if we do not come to an agreement…”, Petrov said in front of MOST headquarters.

It is not known what will happen next. “It will be decided by the National Council”, Petrov added.

After consultations with the President, HDZ president Tomislav Karamarko said that HDZ-led coalition is still ready for further talks with MOST. “There may be further discussions with MOST, but tripartite government is not possible. It would be great if MOST starts negotiations with us, it would mean that they have chosen well”, said Karamarko.

After his talks with the president, SDP president Zoran Milanović said that “everything will be over between Christmas and the New Year”, adding that he assumes that the President will convene a new round of consultations.

President Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović will not make a statement at this time on the outcome of the consultations, but will give a statement later during the day.
