Match will be played on Saturday, December 19, 2015 on two border crossings in Istria

For the first time in history, a friendly volleyball match will be played this Saturday, December 19, 2015 between Croatian and Slovenian Olympians, famous athletes, actors, public figures and citizens over the razor wire fence on the border between Slovenia and Croatia in Istria.

First half of the game will be played at 11 AM on the border crossing Lucija – Brezovica (near Oprtalj) while the second half will be played at 2 PM at the border crossing Dragonja – Kaštel (near Buje).

This friendly game is another protest by both Slovenian and Croatian citizens against the razor wire which was placed on the border between two countries in Istria, and against all wires in Europe  that stand in the way of human liberty.

Volleyball match is organised by the city of Pula, candidate for European Capital of Culture 2020, a city that has built its entire candidature on the demilitarisation of all former army objects. As they state in their press release, we are all witnessing a new militarisation of European cities and our lives so they have decided to fight against it, on behalf of Europe, with sports, creativity and non-violence.
