ZAGREB, July 18, 2018 – A total of five candidates have sent their applications following a public call for the selection of the new information commissioner, after the previous public call failed as a mere one application was sent while the parliament is supposed to choose the commissioner between at least two candidates.
The Constitution and Standing Orders Committee advertised the position again and the deadline for the applications ran out last week.
The term of incumbent commissioner Anamarija Musa expires in October and she has not re-applied for the position.
The five candidates include a law professor, a journalist and three jurists.
Parliament appoints the information commissioner to a five-year term, with the possibility of re-appointment. The new commissioner is likely to be appointed this autumn.
