It seems that HDZ and communists agree on a lot of issues.
Croatian Prime Minister and HDZ president Andrej Plenković met on Monday with a member of Politburo of the Communist Party of China Zhang Chunxian. They stressed the need to improve bilateral relations between Croatia and China, particularly in the context of the China 16+ format, as well as part of political relations between the EU and China, and global cooperation with China within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations, reports Index.hr on April 11, 2017.
HDZ leadership met at the party headquarters with a delegation led by the member of Politburo Zhang Chunxian, reported HDZ in a statement. Plenković and Zhang Chunxian confirmed good political and diplomatic relations between Croatia and China, which this year mark the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations.
They emphasized the need to improve bilateral relations between Croatia and China, particularly in the context of the China 16+ format, as well as political relations between the European Union and China and global cooperation with China within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations. Chunxian informed the HDZ leadership about the current political and economic situation in China, and expressed the ambition of China to seek new trading partners, which includes greater trade cooperation with Croatia.
Plenković and members of HDZ presidency (equivalent to Politburo) emphasized the importance of the memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the field of ports and port industrial parks between the National Commission for Development and Reform of China and the Ministry of Economy of Croatia, which was signed at the summit of China 16+ initiative in Riga and represents a good framework for Chinese investments in Croatia, especially in infrastructure and railroads. They expressed their expectations for the continuation of positive trends in the number of Chinese tourists coming to Croatia and for achieving greater trade and investments between Croatia and China.
In addition to Plenković, the meeting was attended by HDZ general secretary Gordan Jandroković, political secretary Davor Ivo Stier and international secretary Miro Kovač.
