HDZ President goes on the offensive in the Croatian election campaign.

HDZ President Tomislav Karamarko discussed yesterday the economic manifesto of his Patriotic Coalition, describing it as comprehensive and focused on creating new value. “We keep talking about the budget, which is becoming emptier and emptier. We should finally start putting something new in it, and that should be newly-created value. I am talking about incentives for entrepreneurs and farmers. That is the direction of our electoral manifesto”, said Karamarko, who also commented on the latest poll which showed that SDP is getting closer to HDZ, reports Vecernji List on October 5, 2015.

“HDZ’s comment on ‘polls’ is winning elections! That is my only comment. We will have elections in a month, month and a half, and we will talk about it the day after”, said Karamarko. “Milanović’s statements should be ignored. But, let’s talk about him – is this the gentleman who has reduced GDP by three and a half percent? Is this the gentleman who is responsible for 100,000 Croats going to live abroad and for about 80,000 jobs being destroyed? What is he talking about?”, pointed out the HDZ president, who also wondered what happened with SDP’s election manifesto. “They have no manifesto, so they engage in personal attacks and in humiliating political rivals. I do not know what is the purpose of that. I invite them to stand before the people and say what they have done so far. Their results are terrible and devastating.”

Karamarko also discussed the refugee crisis and said that HDZ has stressed from the beginning that Croatia should control its borders and that it should be a part of humanitarian shield to help these people. “Croatia has to do that in a rational way, protecting its security and economic interests. The government has done everything wrong. It is wrong to close legal border crossings like Bajakovo, while at the same time people are passing uncontrollably through other parts of the border. Milanović does not communicate with the neighbours, and this problem cannot be solved without them. We must be prepared to talk with the Hungarians, Serbs and Slovenes, but also with Berlin and Brussels. But, we are now isolated”, said Karamarko.

Asked whether it was possible for Đuro Glogoški, leader of veterans’ protests, to be a candidate on the Patriotic Coalition electoral list, Karamarko replied: “Why not? Đuro Glogoški has a good reputation among veterans and the wider public. Everybody who wants Croatia to do better and wants to fight for the ideas of Patriotic Coalition is our possible ally.”
