ZAGREB, March 10, 2018 – Addressing the 7th conference of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), which is being held under the slogan “Everything is up to us”, SDP president Davor Bernardić said on Saturday that “today, the SDP is opening a new chapter of social democracy in Croatia,” adding that it was important for the party to admit and critically face everything that was wrong in its work over the past several years.

The SDP conference is attended by more than a thousand delegates and numerous guests from other political parties in Croatia. The event is also attended by international guests, ambassadors, union representatives, civil society representatives, etc. Croatian Peasant Party (HSS) leader Krešo Beljak arrived at the conference as a guest of a partner party which will support all opposition parties led by the SDP.

“Those who are not able to critically look at their past don’t get to say anything about the future either. Those who are unable to admit their omissions lack the strength to move forward,” Bernardić said.

The SDP, which is the largest opposition party in Croatia, will now focus on the future and on building a better and more just society in which everyone will enjoy equal rights. Everything is up to us,” the SDP leader said adding that it was up to the SDP to lead the society.

“Because of all of this, today I am even more ready and more determined than ever to continue to be responsible for the SDP and assume responsibility for Croatia,” Bernardić said.
