Will Germans Finish HDZ’s Much Awaited Economic Plan in Time for the Elections?

Total Croatia News

If we had a lipa for every time we’ve heard “We’ll announce it next week”…

Since the beginning of the year, every time HDZ party members were asked to reveal details of their economic plan, we heard excuses in the line of “We will announce it once the government announces the exact election date”, “It’s being printed as we speak” or “We will show it this coming fall”. It’s more or less becoming an urban legend, everyone’s heard of its alleged existence but no one has ever seen it even though it is HDZ’s intention to build their entire election campaign on this document being produced by the IFO Institute in Germany.

Now, as reported by Net.hr, if you have a look at IFO Institute’s website, it clearly states that the deadline for the completion of this document is December 2015, meaning that Croatia’s largest opposition party will not have their plan ready for the elections.

Document entitled ” Short – and long – term policy requirements to strengthen sustainable growth and employment in Croatia” and created by the Ifo Center for International Institutional Comparisons and Migration Research, Ifo Center for Industrial Organisation and New Technologies, Ifo Dresden, Ifo Center for Public Finance and Political Economy, Ifo Center for the Economics of Education, Ifo Center for Business Cycle Analysis and Surveys, Ifo Center for International Economics , according to CESIFO Group Munich’s  OFFICIAL WEB PAGE, is to be completed by December 2015.

Main task of this programme is to develop appropriate recommendations for improving the international economic competitiveness of Croatia using Analysis of secondary data and evaluation of international institutional experience, writing papers on analysis results, which will be discussed among German-Croatian expert workshops and afterwards further developed into policy advice papers.

We’ll just keep our eyes and ears open, just in case this mysterious document appears anywhere in public.
