Zdravko Marić Announces Lawsuit Against SDP’s Gordan Maras: ”He’s Exceeded Every Measure”

The finance minister isn’t happy, and it seems Gordan Maras’ bold statements might have come back to bite him.

As RTL writes on the 18th of October, 2017, it seems that Croatia’s finance minister has had just about enough of the SDP MP’s insituations.

”What we’re talking about is him publicly slandering and defaming me personally. I’ll consider concrete steps. I think he’s exceeded all measures,” stated the finance minister.

Gordan Maras is known for his statements, but they don’t always arouse the desired response. In Parliament today, the outspoken SDP MP said that there was evidence to suggest that the Finance Council had previously warned Zdravko Marić about the problems in Agrokor.

“I’ll give you the information [to prove] that Minister Marić is lying and not telling the truth. Here is the report of the Financial Stability Committee for 2016, and on page six, it’s clear that during 2016, HANFA warned the minister about the Agrokor problem, the problem of factoring, and after six months, Minister Maric has been telling us that everything is fine.

This is publicly available. That’s why the prime minister doesn’t want the public to know anything about it – because HDZ is politically equal to Agrokor economically,” Maras said, continuing with several more accusations and claiming that ”HDZ is Agrokor”.

Minister Marić responded to Maras’ accusation and said that he had the same evidence. “It isn’t some special proof, it’s a presentation, the same stands for the presentation for 2015 and 2016,” stated Maric, saying that he doesn’t see how that can be construed as some sort of warning.

”Otherwise, as far as Mr. Maras’ remarks are concerned, I think he’s exceeded every measure. We’re talking about public slander and defaming me personally. I’ll consider concrete steps. I think he’s exceeded all measures. I’m not going to argue with him. I’ve argued [with him] several times in Parliament. I understand what a political arena is, but this is below the belt,” Marić concluded.
