December the 21st, 2023 – CNN has never tried to hide its love for Croatia, and now summer is behind us, this widely read portal is shining the spotlight on the Croatian SalajLand Christmas lights.
As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, SalajLand, the widely known Christmas story of the Salaj family from Grabovnica, has now attracted the attention of one of the world’s most influential media – CNN. On the ten-hectare property belonging to the Salaj family, thousands of colourful lights are lit each and every year, creating a real Christmas fairy tale during the festive period.
Most of us are familiar with the SalajLand Christmas lights, with very many visits made to the property every winter when this truly magical display is switched on for all to enjoy.
“One Croat turns his estate into a spectacular festival using five million lights. For more than twenty years, Zlatko Salaj has been turning his family home into an enchanting Christmas theme park. This year, he claims to have used five million lights to attract an estimated 100,000 visitors,” CNN says about the huge-hearted Salaj family.
In a CNN video about SalajLand, Zlatko Salaj, the owner of the estate, explained how he came up with this idea. He said that he started the business back in 2001, when he returned home to Croatia from Jordan. At the beginning of the SalajLand Christmas lights story we’ve now all come to know and love so much, there were 70,000 lamps present on the Salaj estate, and now, as Zlatko has claimed, there are an incredible five million.
