June the 25th, 2026 – The much loved Sarajevo-Ploče train will officially return as of tomorrow, with tickets costing around 15 euros.
A popular seasonal railway connection between Sarajevo and Ploče is returning this summer, once again linking Bosnia and Herzegovina’s capital with Croatia’s Adriatic coast.
The Sarajevo–Ploče–Sarajevo passenger train will operate from June 26 until the end of August, running on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. The train will depart from Sarajevo in the morning, with the return journey from Ploče scheduled in the evening.
The journey takes around three hours and 20 minutes, offering travellers a scenic route through the Neretva valley, including stops in places such as Mostar and Čapljina.
A one-way ticket will cost approximately €15, while return tickets will be available at a discounted price. Additional discounts will apply for certain groups, including students, pensioners, journalists and larger groups of passengers.
The railway link has become increasingly popular among both locals and visitors, providing an alternative way to reach the Adriatic coast without relying on road transport. The route has also been praised for its views, passing through some of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s most dramatic landscapes.
Tickets for the seasonal Sarajevo–Ploče service will not be sold online, according to railway officials.
