Ultra Europe Sees Split Taxi Prices Skyrocket

July the 16th, 2024 – The Ultra Europe Festival which arrives in the Dalmatian capital each summer has seen Split taxi prices skyrocket to unjustifiable costs.

Split taxi prices, much like those up and down the country and particularly along the coast, tend to climb as the tourists arrive. Everyone knows the general tips and tricks when it comes to ordering and booking taxis and Ubers, and they typically know what to avoid. When the Ultra Europe Festival is in town, however, it seems that things can get a bit iffy indeed.

As Poslovni Dnevnik writes, owing to the popular Ultra Europe Festival, Split taxi prices shot up and drivers have no doubt been rubbing their hands together with satisfaction. Although taxis are always being sought in Split throughout the hot summer months, this festival drives it up tenfold and naturally, the prices take an extremely steep upward trajectory. Demand from the airport to Split for example was so strong that Split taxi prices were a ridiculous five times higher than normal.

According to the attached screenshot of a certain taxi transport application (app), the price for four people to the airport between 04:00 and 05:00 was as much as 100 euros, and that’s in the cheapest variant. If someone wanted a “more pleasant variant”, they could book a taxi to take them the approximate 20 kilometre distance for a massive 1544 euros. For seven people, a people carrier came with a price tag as high as a shocking 1,826 euros.

The row of taxi drivers hungry for their slice of this utterly insane proverbial cake stretched all the way to the building of the former Jugoplastika.
