Croatian Usain Bolt: Ante Rebić Named Fastest Footballer in Bundesliga!

Daniela Rogulj

Ante Rebić is the fastest footballer in the Bundesliga this season, sharing first place with Achraf Hakimi from Borussia Dortmund.

Ante Rebić recorded an incredible 35.10 km/h this season, making him the fastest player in the Bundesliga, reports 24 Sata on April 23, 2019.

Ante shares the top spot with Achraf Hakimi from Borussia Dortmund, who reached the same speed in a single sprint, followed by Jerome Roussillon from Wolfsburg (35.07 km/h) and Kai Havertz from Bayer (35.02 km/h).

Speed is one of Rebić’s biggest trump cards, and when he crosses into the opponent’s half, few can catch him. Rebić has also achieved brilliant statistics this season. Namely, the Imotski native has scored ten goals and six assists in 33 games. It helps that Eintracht’s attack is made up of the ‘Balkan engine’ including Rebić, Kostić, and Jović. It’s safe to say that all defenders in Germany are in fear.

While Rebić’s full sprint reaches a frightening speed, he still cannot match the world’s quickest footballer, Kylian Mbappé, who hit 38 km/h in a recent match against Monaco. This has surpassed the legendary Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt, who in 2009 crushed the world record in Berlin for the 100-meter race with a time of 9.58. Then, he ran 37.58 km/h.

Before the young Mbappé came around, the fastest was Arjen Robben whose highest speed for a single sprint was measured at 37 km/h, while Gareth Bale reached a speed of 36.9 km/h.

At the beginning of April, player speeds were recorded in the Premier League this season. The quickest is Fulham’s right back Timothy Fos-Mensah who hit 35.32 km/h. Ruben Vinagre ran 35.19 km/h, while Leroy Sane hit a speed of 35.18 km/h.

More good news for Ante Rebić came last week as Eintracht knocked out Benfica to advance to the semi-final of the Europa League. The German club will face Chelsea on May 2 and May 9, 2019.

And the end? Here’s Rebić teaching his teammate Croatian. Enjoy!
