While Niko Kovač took his team to the title of the German Cup, the real hero of the match was another Croatian – the phenomenal Ante Rebić who scored two goals against Bayern Munich.

Niko Kovač finished his coaching mandate at football club Eintracht Frankfurt in the best possible way by triumphing in the German Cup final on Saturday against his future club Bayern Munich. Kovač’s side defeated the Bundesliga champions 3-1, and the hero of the match was Croatian striker Ante Rebić who scored two goals, reports Gol.hr on May 19, 2018.

Rebić’s first goal came from a ruthless attack by the Croatian striker 11 minutes into the game. The Croat soared past three Bayern defenders to find the back of the net for 1:0.

Bayern did not equalize until the 53rd minute with a goal by Robert Lewandowski, but that draw wouldn’t last long. In the 81st minute, an Eintracht counterattack saw Rebić’s speed and incredible first-touch skill for his second goal in the game after he easily outran two Bayern defenders. They didn’t stand a chance, and if Rebić can keep this up, he will be a massive asset to the Croatia World Cup squad.

This is the first trophy for Eintracht in 30 years and their fifth German Cup title (1974, 1975, 1981, 1988, 2018). Last year Eintracht lost to Borussia Dortmund 1-2 in the final when Rebić was also the shooter then.
