The current Bayern Munich coach was named the best coach of last year, according to Bild.

The most popular German newspaper, which is considered to be one of the best-selling daily newspapers in Europe, shared their annual sports awards last night. With about 700 guests in Hamburg, one of Bild’s laureates was Croatia’s Niko Kovač, reports Gol.hr on August 28, 2018.

Bayern’s current coach, who began the new season against Hoffenheim last Friday, was named the coach of the year by Sports Bild, who awarded prizes in nine categories total on Monday.

Let’s remember that the former Croatia national team coach won the German Cup last season while he was leading Eintracht from Frankfurt. Eintracht celebrated in the final against his current club, creating what was one of the biggest sports sensations last season throughout Germany because Bayern was a big favorite for the double crown. We should also remember that Croatia’s Ante Rebić was the hero of the game after scoring two goals.

This is another great acknowledgment for the Croatian expert, though we’re sure his biggest was getting the call from Munich to lead one of the biggest European clubs earlier this year.

Let’s also remember another admirable act by Kovač, who admitted on Friday that the referee probably misdirected the penalty in favor of Bayern against Hoffenheim, helping them to secure a big 3:1 win to begin the season.
