The 21-year-old Croatian tennis player is on a roll!

After advancing to the quarter-final of the Masters 1000 series in Miami, Croatian tennis player Borna Ćorić entered the top 30 tennis players in the world for the first time, with an individual ranking of 28th on the ATP’s latest list released on Monday. Marin Čilić remains in third place while Rafael Nadal replaced Roger Federer at the top, reports Index.hr on April 2, 2018.

The Swiss player failed to advance past the 2nd round of Miami where he won the title last year, causing him to lose the first place spot he spent for 308 weeks in his career. Rafael Nadal will remain at the top of the ladder for at least three weeks, and to keep his place on top, he will have to defend titles at tournaments in Monte Carlo, Barcelona and Madrid. If he only wins one of them, Federer will return to first place.

After the tournament in Miami, Marin Čilić is only 60 points ahead of his closest companion, German player Alexander Zverevo, who would have jumped Čilić if he defeated John Isner in the Miami Open finals. Thanks to his first title at a Masters 1000 tournament, Isner has returned among the top ten in the world, ranked ninth for his best career ranking.

In addition to Čilić and Ćorić, among the rest of the Croatian tennis players, Ivo Karlović is in 88th place, and in the top 200 is only Viktor Galović in the 191st position.

In the doubles competition, Matej Pavić is now in third place, behind the leading pair Melo and Kubot. Pavić, with Austria’s Oliver Marach, is still first in the number of points won (3,430) this year, ahead of Americans Bob and Mike Bryan (2,665).
