Croatia is through to the second round, after a 3-2 win against Belgium in Liege
It was day three of the Belgium – Croatia Davis Cup match on March 6, 2016, and in a clash between two best players in the first match of a day, David Goffin won against Marin Čilić 6-4,6-4,3-6, 7-5. It was a match filled with mistakes on both sides, and since the Croatian player made few more, it was down to the fifth match to decide the winner and who will go through to the next round to play against the USA.
Borna Čorić and Kimmer Coppejans hit the court, first set was decided in a tie-break, which Čorić won 7-5. That’s was as far as the Belgian No.2 player could keep up with Čorić, and the final result was 7-6, 6-2, 6-2 so celebrations for the Croatian team could commence.
In the round two of the Davis Cup World Group, Croatia will face the US team, it will be another away match and it is scheduled for July, 15.-17. 2016. On that note, we have to mention that Croatia played against USA three times in the Davis Cup history and Croatia won all three times.
