Joan Carrillo is no longer the coach of Hajduk Split!
After a series of unfortunate performances by Hajduk Split, Hajduk’s President Ivan Kos held a deliberate press conference this morning to inform the dedicated followers of Hajduk and the media of the club’s current situation.
He opened the conference by addressing exactly where the club stands today.
“After a hard weekend and another three points lost, I felt the duty to stand before you and tell you what we’re up to. I will confirm that we are not playing well and we are not achieving the points that should be set, and the club is in bad shape. I do not want an alibi or to escape from the responsibility, and by the very act of offering my resignation I have shown that I take responsibility solely on myself,” Kos said and continued:
“We want continuity and stability in our plan. We do not want to change trainers, sports directors and other key people frequently, but I want to introduce you to our current situation.”
The President of Hajduk then announced that Joan Carrillo is no longer the coach of the Split club. The dismissal is the result of a series of bad play and poor results this fall, which culminated in the rebellion against the club’s leader after a defeat by the worst team in the league. “Joan Carrillo is no longer the coach, and we decided to thank him for his work. He showed quality. Hajduk had great parties under him, but also bad ones. We concluded that change is now essential. Another issue is the one of Hajduk Sports Director Mario Branco. He offered his resignation and assumed responsibility. We refused it,” said Ivan Kos.
Until the appointment of a new coach, the team will be led by assistant coach Vik Lalić.
Joan Carrillo joined Hajduk in early 2016, coaching 41 official games where he achieved 22 wins, 11 draws, and eight defeats.
Hajduk thanked Mr. Carrillo for everything he has done for the club and wishes him much luck, health and sports success in the future.
