After a 59 – 80 defeat against the Czech Republic, head coach Velimir Perasovic resigns
Croatian national basketball team has finished the EuroBasket competition after today’s loss against the Czech Republic ( 59 – 80).
Evan though this was yet another game that just had to be won because it not only guaranteed the next round at the EuroBasket, but it also meant that our national team would get the chance to compete at the 2016 Olympic games in Rio. However, none of this seemed to have mattered to the players. From the very beginning of the game it looked like the re-run of the game against Georgia few days earlier. There was no defense aggressiveness, no concentration, and very offence action was executed in a hurry. Our slow game, together with staggering 11 lost balls in the first 20 minutes meant that in the first half, Czech players were able to score 17 points without breaking a sweat. Even players who are usually benched got their turn and scored against Croatia, turning this crucial game for our team into an easy training session for the Czechs.
Needless to say, after today’s poor performance it didn’t take long for the head coach Velimir Perasović to offer his resignation. This comes just a little over a year after he took over the Croatian national team.
