Croatian basketball team defeated France in the pre-Olympics tournament in Argentina’s Cordoba with a score of 76:70, with a fantastic game by Darijo Šarić
After a heavy defeat 78:97 against host Argentina on Friday, Croatian basketball players presented a completely different face against France, a team lined with renown world-class players, Tportal.hr reported on July 31, 2016.
Croatia began to break their adversary in the second quarter when their advantage grew to +15 and halftime saw a score of 38:27. In the third quarter the French reduced the advantage to only four points, but the excellent Darijo Šarić with the help of Mario Hezonja and Darko Planinić did not allow for a shift. In the last quarter the team lead by selector Petrović again pushed to a ten point advantage and the French were beyond help. Only in the very final stretch they managed to reduce the difference to 76:70.
By far the best in the Croatian line-up was Šarić with 18 points, followed by Planinić and Simon with 11, Ukić had 10, while Hezonja made 9 this time.
In the last game of this pre-Olympics tournament in Cordoba, Croatia plays Serbia on Monday at 23h Croatian time.
