Krešimir Ćosić Cup: Cedevita Walks past Kvarner, Jolly Narrowly past Zagreb

Basketball players of Cedevita, title defenders in the Krešimir Ćosić Cup, made a convincing 98-76 (29-17, 23-15, 18-23, 28-21) win over Kvarner 2010 from Rijeka in the first quarterfinal match of the final tournament, hosted by Šibenik

Already after the first half, when Cedevita had a 20 point lead, it was clear the best Croatian basketball team will justify the role of favourite, Jutarnji List reported on February 16, 2017.

Out of six Cedevita players with double digits, the most efficient was Miro Bilan with 19 points and 8 rebounds. Džanan Musa made 18 points, Marko Arapović and Ra’Shad James 14 each.

Cedevita will meet in the semi-finals the better from the duel between Zadar and Split scheduled for Thursday at 16:30h. After them comes the last quarterfinal match at 20h between Šibenik and Cibona.

Jolly joined Cedevita as the second semi-finalist, after defeating Zagreb with 83-76 (25-30, 19-18, 18-13, 21-15). Zagreb was the better team in the first quarter, but Jolly played the middle part of the game well, so the winner was decided in the last minute. A three-pointer 55 seconds before the end brought Zagreb within two points of Jolly. But Josip Bilinovac scored a three pointer with 36 seconds to go. Božić attempted two new three-pointers, but missed both. The final 83-76 was set by Scott with seven seconds to go.

The American was with 19 points the best scorer for Jolly. Bilinovac scored 15 points, Ivan Novačić 12 and Šime Špralja 11 for the home team. Martin Junaković with 18 points was the best scorer for Zagreb, Antonio Vlaić made 17 points and Luka Božić and Toni Vitali 14 each.
