Croatian Coach Igor Tudor Making Waves in Turkey

Total Croatia News

Croatian football expert Igor Tudor is all but confirmed as the new coach of Turkish football giant Galatasaray. However, the news did not sit well with the President of Tudor’s current club Karabukspor, who announced a complaint with the Turkish Football Union

As Turkish media reported, the now former coach of Galatasaray, Dutch Jan Olde Riekerink was let go due to his poor results, to be replaced by Tudor who is currently coaching Karabukspor, Tportal reported on February 14, 2017.

Tudor has reportedly signed a contract until July 2019, with 150.000 euro compensation for Karabukspor. Galatasaray and Tudor are keeping silent, but the President of Karabukspor Hikmet Ferudun Tankut had something to say: “I am disappointed as I learned of everything from the media. If this is true, then Igor betrayed us, he and Galatasaray should be ashamed. We will surely complain to the Union. Tudor has practice today and we expect him in the club.”

Interestingly enough, Tudor appeared in the afternoon hours at practice, but did not want to comment. Available for comments was Gökhan Yagmur, a manager familiar with the issue. “If he wants to go, he must pay the club 150.000 euro. If the club fires him, Tudor will receive that same amount,” he said for Transfermarkt.de.

Tudor arrived to Turkey in the beginning of the current season when he took over Karabukspor and led it to 10th place. He recently defeated leading Bešiktaš (2:1) and Galatasaray (2:1).

He began his coaching career with Hajduk from Split, from 2013 to 2015, followed by PAOK from Greece in 2015 and 2016.
