It is time for round 28, and it’s the weekend of the Eternal Derby
After the cup semi-finals played on Tuesday and Wednesday, it is back to league matches for Croatian football clubs and it is really cooking up both on the top and the bottom of the table. Round matches kick off today, March 18, 2016.
OSIJEK – ZAGREB – Osijek – Friday, 17.00 CET
It is a must-win for the home team. They were playing quite well in last few matches, and finally got some points on the table, but this is simply the one they have to win, as Zagreb is written off, so losing even a point in this match would be a disaster for Osijek.
SLAVEN BELUPO – ISTRA 1961 – Koprivnica – Saturday, 15.00 CET
Guests are trying to avoid relegation play-off matches, and to ensure that, every point is precious while the home team has done itself no favors in the last few rounds and are now in danger of being relegated themselves. It will be a tough and crucial match for both teams.
RIJEKA – INTER -Rijeka – Saturday, 17.00 CET
Rijeka is on a mission, as they want to keep pressuring Dinamo, while Inter is, together with Hajduk, probably the only team to be in a comfortable position as they cannot go up or down the table, so Rijeka is facing a relaxed opponent. The home team will want to secure a win and then start rooting for their rivals from the south of the Adriatic to take some points from Dinamo.
HAJDUK – DINAMO – Split – Sunday, 15.00 CET
It is one of two biggest matches for Dinamo during this spring season. If they avoid losing in Split and Rijeka, they will surely secure the title. As the same teams were playing on Wednesday, it will be interesting to see if Hajduk players have learned something from that defeat. As for the guests, they will be missing Marko Pjaca following his injury in the last game. We will follow up on this preview on the day of the match.
LOKOMOTIVA – SPLIT – Zagreb – Sunday, 17.00 CET
Battle for Europe. Both teams are playing on and off games, not getting the form right. It is not the deciding match for clinching the fourth place on the table, but the winner would get a considerable advantage.
