Popular English newspaper the Daily Mail indicated a great honor for two of the best Croatian players currently, Luka Modrić and Ivan Rakitić. Our Croatian midfielders for Real Madrid and Barcelona were among the 200 best players on the planet, reports Index.hr.
Modrić made number 23 on the list of the Daily Mail’s 200 best players in the world.
“Real often does not look like the same team without its metronome in the linker line. Last season they won the Champions league, and Modrić performed in almost all the games, and at the end of the season was selected in the UEFA team of the Champions league. His passing and the way that he ties the game are crucial for Madridistas and it is a pleasure to watch the ground.”
Ivan Rakitić came in at 39th on the list of the best. The Barcelona superstar received many compliments from the British press, and one of the most valuable is certainly the comparison with the legendary Xavi.
“Croatian international had a thankless task, which was to fill the shoes of one of the best midfielders ever to walk the lawn and he did very well for himself. Already in the first season, Rakitić won the triple crown and scored in the final against Juventus. Obviously, it will take a lot of time before the Croat becomes an icon like Xavi, but he is certainly on the right track.”
