Davis Cup Schedule Announced: A Look at Who’s Playing in Osijek this Weekend

Daniela Rogulj

The draw for the first round of the World Group Davis Cup in Osijek this weekend has been announced.

The first duel will be held between Franko Škugor and Pablo Carreno Busta to open the 1st round of the World Group Davis Cup in Osijek at the Gradski Vrt Hall. The second individual match will be between Ante Pavić and Roberto Bautista-Agut. The matches were decided by a draw staged at the Croatian National Theatre in Osijek this afternoon, reports Index.hr on February 2, 2017.

For Saturday’s doubles matches, Croatian coach Željko Krajan has nominated Nikola Mektić and Marin Draganja, while Spain’s Conchita Martinez has selected last year’s winners of Roland Garros – Feliciano and Marc Lopez.

This will be the second match between Croatian and Spanish tennis players. The first was played in 2003 in Valencia, where Spain won 5-0.

The Spaniards are a clear favorite for the duel in Osijek, considering that the Croatian team is missing their top players (Marin Čilić, Ivo Karlović, Borna Ćorić and Ivan Dodig).

Here is the schedule:

Friday (15:00)

Franko Škugor – Pablo Carreno Busta

Ante Pavić – Roberto Bautista Agut

Saturday (16:00)

Marin Draganja / Nikola Mektić – Feliciano Lopez / Marc Lopez

Sunday (15:00)
