Dinamo was investigated by UEFA, and the settlement has been agreed for the time being, with Dinamo ordered to pay a 200.000 EUR fine.
The UEFA Club Financial Control Body investigatory chamber, lead by chief investigator Yves Leterme, announced today, May 20, 2016, that four clubs – FC Astana, GNK Dinamo Zagreb, Fenerbahçe SK, and Trabzonspor AŞ – for which investigations were opened following a non-compliance with the UEFA Financial Fair Play break-even requirement, have individually agreed to settlement agreements.
Here are the terms agreed between UEFA and Dinamo:
“The settlement agreement covers the sporting season 2016/17. Dinamo undertakes to reach full break-even compliance by monitoring period 2016/17. Dinamo accepts that it will be subject to a limitation on the number of players that it may include on the A list for the purposes of participation in UEFA competitions. Specifically, for season 2016/17, Dinamo may only register a maximum of 23 players on the A list, instead of the potential maximum of 25 as foreseen in the relevant competition regulations. Dinamo agrees to pay an unconditional amount of € 200K.”
In last few months, Dinamo officials showed partial financial reports to the public, claiming that the balance sheet was never better, but the football pundits doubted it, and this news from the UEFA show that not everything is peachy at the Maksimir Stadium.
The problem for Dinamo can also be the next season as UEFA will keep monitoring the club’s finances, and if the problem is not solved, next time there will be no space for the settlement, but it could mean banning Dinamo from UEFA competitions.
