In the 19th round match of the First Division, Hajduk pulled out a last minute win against Cibalia (2:1) in Vinkovci. Cibalia ended the meeting with three players down as Šimunac (76), Filipović (89) and Čuljak (90 + 5) were all given red cards. Index.hr reports the details on 10 December, 2016.

Cibalia took the lead after 22 minutes when Edi Basha took advantage of a good pass to Pervan, who broke out in front of Hajduk’s goalkeeper to easily score. However, after 77 minutes, the home team lost Šimunac to a red card, and in the 89th minute, fellow teammate Filipović was also sent off for a red card.

Cibalia, down to just nine players, had failed to defend, and in the first minute of added time, Marco Futacs hit a goal for Hajduk to equalize. While expecting to settle for a draw, in the 93rd minute, Futacs again shot through the legs of two Cibalia players and past the goalkeeper for an incredible turnaround and a final score of 2:1 for Hajduk.

In the last seconds of the match, a fight broke out between players, sending off domestic player Čuljak and Hajduk’s Jefferson with red cards. A total of four red cards were received in the match.

Hajduk’s new coach, Spaniard Joan Carrillo, pulled out a win by the skin of his teeth for his coaching debut.
