Joan Carrillo Named New Trainer for Hajduk

After a shock defeat to RNK Split during a Croatian Cup match last week, Hajduk trainer Marijan Pušnik and the club parted ways. Today, Hajduk has named their new trainer.

Hajduk Split played their first match over the weekend without former trainer Pušnik in tow and with Hajduk 2 trainer Marko Lozo taking lead. Hajduk lost to Slaven Belupo 1:2.

 

Hajduk.hr has announced this morning that the new coach of the club has been named and is Spaniard Joan Carrillo. Carrillo was born on 8 September, 1968 and is the former leader of Spanish club Almeria. Previously, he was also coach of Videoton with whom he convincingly won the Hungarian championship in 2015.

 

Carrillo’s coaching career began in the youth team Espanyol, where he later worked as an assistant to coach Maurizio Pochettino, the current coach of Tottenham Hotspurs. As an assistant coach he worked in Videoton which was later taken independently.

 

Carrillo is actively engaged in football and played for Girona, Andorra, Espanyol B, Poli Ejido, Palamos and Vilassar Mar.

 

Coach Carrillo will take the team from today and his premiere event will be this Saturday at 15.00 against Cibalia Vinkovci.
