Dinamo will play Macedonian Vardar, and Hajduk will face Romanian Iasi, both Croatian representatives will start with the away games
It is all about the EURO these days, but the club football is to return in less than a month. Croatian clubs have started their pre-season preparations and on June 20, 2016, the draw for European Cup competitions was staged in Nyon.
At the second stage of Champions League qualifications, the Croatian Champions will face Macedonian Vardar, the team coached by the ex-Dinamo skipper, Goce Sedloski. Dinamo is a firm favourite in the clash, but his knowledge about Dinamo could be the advantage for the Macedonians.
Hajduk will play the Romanian team, Iesi, the club which ended up in Europa League draw just for the reason of better clubs in Romania not getting the international license. Iesi finished at the seventh position in Romania last season, and just as Dinamo, Hajduk should be a favourite, but, being familiar with the Hajduk team, it is a tough one to predict.
The one fact to bring joy to the Hajduk’s fans is that the return game will be played in Split, so the date will not collide with Ultra Festival, meaning the game will be played at Poljud Stadium.
