The 7th round of the Croatian First League was played from September 14-16, 2018.

After an international break which saw the Croatia national team suffer their worst defeat in history (0:6 to Spain), the Croatian First League resumed at the weekend with some rather positive movements for some of Croatia’s most beloved clubs. The downward spiral for Hajduk so far this season may have made a turn for the better, with new coach Zoran Vulić taking the bench for his 2018/19 season debut which saw a win for the Split club.

Here’s a look at what went down in the 7th round of the Croatian First League.

Inter Zaprešić v. Istra 1961 (1:2)

Inter and Istra met in Zaprešić on Friday, September 14, 2018, to kick off the 7th round.

Istra was first to score with a goal by Mierez in the 20th minute, which gave Istra a 0:1 lead until the half. It wasn’t until the 79th minute when Inter equalized for 1:1 with a goal by Andrić, though Mierez came back with another goal to give Istra the 1:2 win.

Inter is currently in 8th place with 7 points, while Istra is in 9th with 5.

Gorica v. Dinamo (0:1)

Gorica and Dinamo met on Saturday, September 15, 2018, for their 7th round game in Gorica.

While the first half went without goals, Gorica collected three yellow cards in the first 45 minutes. Dinamo’s first and only goal came from Olmo in the 49th minute, and a double yellow for Stojanović left the Croatian champions with a man down from the 65th minute. The game ended 0:1 for Dinamo.

Dinamo is currently in 1st place with 17 points, while Gorica is in 5th with 10.

Hajduk v. Rudeš (3:1)

With a new coach in tow, Hajduk managed to pull their first win of the season which was kicked off with a goal by Caktaš in the 20th minute. 1:0 at the half, Ivanovski increased Hajduk’s lead to 2:0 in the 61st, and a penalty for Caktaš made it 3:0 in the 74th minute. Rudeš did come back and get one in the 90th minute with a goal by Andrey.

Slaven Belupo v. Lokomotiva (2:5)

Kastrati scored again in the 46th minute for 0:3, though Bačelić-Grgić scored for Belupo in the 70th for 1:3. The scoring was not close to being over, and Jelić increased Belupo’s lead to make the game 2:3 in the 81st minute.
