ZAGREB, June 12, 2018 – After issuing an arrest warrant against former Dinamo football club boss Zdravko Marić, the Osijek-Baranja County Court has ordered law enforcement authorities to issue national and international arrest warrants, as well as a European Arrest Warrant, the court reported on Tuesday.
The court’s spokesman Miroslav Rožac told Hina that the court had ordered the Osijek-Baranja County Police Department to issue arrest warrants against Mamić, who was sentenced last week to six and a half years in prison for fraud pending a final ruling. The court has ordered that an international arrest warrant be issued since Mamić departed for Bosnia and Herzegovina prior to the sentence being delivered.
Rožac added that the police had also been ordered to issue a European Arrest Warrant should Mamić now be located in any EU member state.
A spokesman for the county police Darijo Premec told Hina that the police would act in accordance to the court order.
The former Dinamo football club boss and incumbent advisor to the club, his brother Zoran, former Dinamo director Damir Vrbanović and tax official Milan Pernar have been found guilty of the charges of siphoning about 116 million kuna from Dinamo and defrauding the state budget of about 12.2 million kuna in unpaid taxes and surtaxes.
Zdravko Mamić was sentenced to six and a half years in prison, his brother Zoran to four years and 11 months, Pernar to four years and two months, and Vrbanović to three years.
