Croatia national team player and Barcelona midfielder, Ivan Rakitić, has been awarded for his unbelievable strike on Wednesday at Wembley against Tottenham.

Barcelona celebrated at Wembley in London on Wednesday, winning 2:4 against the Tottenham Hotspurs to break their unlucky streak of three games without a win, reports T Portal on October 5, 2018.

Coutinho scored the first goal of the night for Barcelona, which was followed by an impressive volley from the Croatian midfielder that hit the post and sent the ball behind Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to increase Barcelona’s lead to 0:2. It was also the 600th goal for Barcelona in the most prestigious European club competition.

After the second round of the Champions League was played on Thursday, UEFA recapped the most beautiful goals of the week, where Ivan Rakitić’s strike was declared the winner.

“It is a great honor to receive this award. I’ll put it in a special place in my home. This is certainly one of the most beautiful goals I scored. It is an even better feeling that I have scored it against one of the best European teams,” said Rakitić.

Rakitić’s goal was chosen ahead of the second-placed goal by Arnaut Groeneveld of Club Brugge, Paulo Dybala of Juventus and Neymar of PSG.

Ivan Rakitić was also named the winner of this year’s Premio Barca Jugadors award for the 2017/18 season, which is awarded by former Barcelona players for the best player of the year. Behavior is taken into account, as is fair play and the player’s relationship with the club. It is important to note that Messi, Iniesta, Pique, Sergio Roberto, and Ter Stegen were also in the competition for this award.

Rakitić deserved the prize thanks to his ‘obedience, humor and rational nature, and the way he adapted to the club and his culture’.

“It is my honor to receive this award. There is nothing better than being part of the best club in the world,” Rakitić said.
