At yet another extraordinary press conference on April 6, 2018, the advisor to the board of GNK Dinamo, Zdravko Mamić, said that Dinamo is the most damaged club in Croatia, among many other things.
Given the dramatic situation between Mamić and his beloved club, Dinamo, it would have been reasonable to expect the man to talk about the continuation of the trial at the Osijek County Court in ten days. As you are aware, Mamić and his associates have been accused of damaging Dinamo for 260 million kuna. And his crown witnesses, Luka Modrić and Dejan Lovren, have been suspected of false testimony by USKOK.
Or maybe we would expect the former Dinamo leader to speak about the record fall of his beloved club which, under Mamić, was left without fans, and thus without any income from them. Given that the only two models of financing Mamić’s club dissolved, this season, Dinamo did not enter the Champions League and sold practically all of their market-potent players, leaving them with massive debts. To be exact, the financial year for Dinamo ended with a loss of 12 million kuna.
But instead, Mamić used all of his might at today’s press conference to attack Hajduk, or what the Dinamo boss calls: “Cretins, a sickly ‘Organization of Yugoslav Nationalists’ click that made terror through the fantasy association ‘Our Hajduk’.”
“I read a text whose genus was ’politics saved Hajduk’, but there are no titles like that for Dinamo. Imagine that. What is the inversion, the travesty and the replacement of the thesis? Hajduk has not won the championship for 13 years, and that’s 13 times without the Champions League. Everyone speaks against Dinamo, and asks where is Dinamo’s leadership, where is the coach, where are the players? Where are the Bad Blue Boys? Everyone is silent but I will not be quiet, and I will talk until they kill me,” said Zdravko Mamić who stressed that Dinamo was the most damaged club in Croatia in the last year, even though only 9 of their games ended without a win.
During Mamić’s tirade, he hit at Hajduk the most, and especially the recently published book by sociologist Drazen Lalić titled “Football and Politics”.
“Individuals pollute Hajduk, but also the foundations of the Croatian state. In that, Dražen Lalić leads. He promoted his book by highlighting that Tito Kirigin was the biggest President of Hajduk, although we should mention that during the Second World War, he killed the Croatian patriot Vojko Krstulovic. Another Hajduk leader that is respected is Ante Jurjević – Baja. He also killed Croatian patriots but after the Second World War. Hajduk forgave his tax debts, and paid for all of them to be written off,” Mamic said and continued:
“For twelve years Hajduk has worked on the fantasy account Sirio Sport. Sometimes this account was in Austria, sometimes in Italy. Dalmatians love the national team, but the Hajduk leadership (or as Mamić said, the ‘Organization of Yugoslav Nationalists click’) does not. I have no problem with Sanader helping Hajduk, with Jadranka Kosor paying 143 million kuna in tax debts, and I have no problem with Torcida threatening Banovina and asking for Hajduk to approve a loan. But I have issues with spitting on Dinamo and Zagreb,” Mamic added, concluding:
“Hajduk lives exclusively from the PR and the spin. Who is Kos in the history of Hajduk? He came from Osijek and admitted that he was not a Hajduk fan either.”
