Highest Fines Ever for Hajduk After HNS Flag Spotted Upside Down at Poljud

Alan Klakočer, the disciplinary judge of the Croatian First League, has punished Hajduk with the highest fines so far.

The Split football club was fined 90,000 kuna for pyrotechnics and the upside-down HNS flag at Poljud during the game against Lokomotiva, reports Index.hr on April 11, 2018. 

“The upside down HNS flag has its meaning,” Hajduk said in a statement. The club hoped to send a message to the leaders of Croatian football and was therefore prepared to pay the penalty.

“During the Hajduk and Lokomotiva match, home fans in the north stands of the stadium lit more than 50 different pyrotechnic devices from the 27th to 69th minute of the game, and the host team’s obligations under Article 13 were not properly fulfilled using the HNS flag in competitions. This was the violation of Article 67 and 93 of the HNS Tribunal, and HNK Hajduk was fined 90,000 kuna,” the Croatian First League announced.

Just a few days ago, Klakočer announced a sentence to Hajduk for the match against Rijeka. The Split club was punished with 65,000 kuna and must close the north stands against Cibalia on April 18th because of pyrotechnics and racist chants. 

“During the Hajduk and Rijeka match from the 10th minute, Torcida burned pyrotechnic devices, especially from the 68th to 73rd minute when seven powerful smoke bombs were fired. More than 50 flares were lit, and a dozen had been thrown onto the track, of which seven reached the pitch. The referee had to interrupt the game for four minutes to remove the flares and clear the dense smoke. In the final minutes of the game, several smoke bombs were launched, and in the 82nd minute, seats were burned in the north stands. Also, from the 14th to 16th minute, racist chants were heard in the north stands of the stadium. Due to the violations of Articles 67 and 88 of the DP HNS and frequently repeated events during the same top games of the current championship, HNK Hajduk is penalized by playing the next home game or cup match (after the decision is finalized) without the presence of spectators in the north stands at Poljud stadium, and a fine of 65,000 kuna.”

Hajduk reacted immediately and offered all season ticket holders in the north stands entrance to the east, and tickets will be 10 kuna for all stands 

Rijeka was fined 10,000 kuna.
