Croats in NBA: Dario Šarić Debuts for Minnesota Timberwolves

Šibenik native Dario Šarić made his debut in a new NBA shirt after leaving the Philadelphia 76ers over the weekend. 

In his first match for the Minnesota Timberwolves, Croatian basketball player Dario Šarić secured nine points in a home win against the New Orleans Pelicans (107:100). In his Minnesota debut, Šarić played 20 minutes on the court and scored nine points (shots in play 3/7, three-pointers 1/2) and achieved three rebounds, one assist, and two blocks. Robert Covington, who was also part of Šarić’s trade from Philadelphia, had 13 points, reports Gol.hr on November 15, 2018.

The best for Minnesota was Karl-Anthony Towns, who finished with 25 points and 16 rebounds, and Andrew Wiggins who added 23 points. E’Twaun Moore led the Pelicans with 31 points, and Anthony Davis secured 29.

The Los Angeles Lakers were better than the Portland Trail Blazers (126:117), and the hero of the game was, of course, Lebron James, who scored 44 points, and had ten rebounds, nine assists, three blocks and one steal. James also jumped to fifth place on the list of the best shooters in the history of the NBA. Ivica Zubac did not enter the game for the Lakers.

Oklahoma City Thunder celebrated at home against the New York Knicks (128:103), making nine wins for the club in the last ten games. Paul George was the most effective for the Thunder with 35 points.

Mario Hezonja played 22 minutes for the Knicks, scored six points (shots in play 3/9, three-pointers 0/2), had six rebounds and two assists. Tim Hardaway Jr. was the most effective on the Knicks with 20 points. This is the fifth defeat for the Knicks in six games and the third in a row.

Dragan Bender’s Phoenix Suns finally broke their four consecutive defeats last night, winning against the San Antonio Spurs (116:96). TJ Warren led the Suns with 27 points, while Dragan Bender played four minutes for Phoenix without a point and one rebound. 

The Washington Wizards won at home against the Cleveland Cavaliers (119:95), with Bradley Beal scoring 20 points for the win.

Rookie Collin Sexton was the best for Cleveland with 24 points, while Ante Žižić scored two points (shots in play 1/1) and added three rebounds and one assist during his 15 minutes on the court.
