Exciting futsal action in Split.

Team Kauri is the winner of the 14th edition of traditional futsal tournament “Four Bars” held annually on St. Stephen’s Day in Split. In the finals, Kauri won 4:3 against Vanilla and won the tournament for the third time in a row, reports Dalmacija News on December 27, 2015.

As many as 4,000 spectators came to the Gripe Sports Hall in order to once again see in action some of the biggest stars of Dalmatian and Croatian football. They witnesses a number of attractive moves by football grandmasters who were greeted with loud applause. Some whistles could be heard during the presentation of former Hajduk footballers who now play for Rijeka, Filip Bradarić and Marin Tomasov. Later, it turned out that those two players were among the best individuals in the tournament. However, the title of the best player went to Ivica Mornar, the initiator of this charity event whose income will be donated to the Mir Rehabilitation Centre in Rudine. During the last 14 years, more than three million kuna in total have been donated.

Mornar scored two spectacular goals and helped Kauri win the title, while Tomasov was awarded the title of top scorer, with four goals scored during the tournament. The title of the best goalkeeper went to Božidar Radošević from Kauri.

Among the players who took part in the tournament, there were many current and former players from Hajduk and other Dalmatian teams, including Ivan Perišić who now plays for Inter Milan. He arrived in Split just a few hours before the tournament began and showed how much it means to him. The largest round of applause was given to Blaž Slišković, so-called Maradona of the Balkans, who showed his support for the humanitarian cause.

All in all, it was another successful year for the tournament. Next year, the 15th edition will bring together even more football stars. Some things might and will change, but the big heart and humanitarian spirit of players and audience in Split will certainly stay the same.
