Total Croatia News

An alternative way to experience Dubrovnik’s famous walls on April 30, 2016.

When someone asks you to name 10 things about Dubrovnik that first pop to your mind, doubtfully anyone would mention sports in any other context than water polo. New winds are blowing now for a second year in a row.

For a second year now, Dubrovnik is home to Dubrovnik Half-Marathon and to a very odd race that is almost unique to Dubrovnik (if we’re not counting Ston in) – race in the city walls! Starting point for the racers is going to be the main street Stradun, and then the contestants are going to do their best in achieving the fastest time while wiggling through the ancient fortifications, climbing steep stairs… it would be fun if there would be obstacles in the means of carefree tourist in their way, but specifically for this occasion, city walls will be closed for guests in the duration of the race today. Of course, after the race, all wanting visitors will be able to go and see the ancient fortifications surrounding the old town. The race today starts at 10:00 am (very soon!), so if you’re in Dubrovnik, be sure not to miss this unique event! A lot of effort, planning, volunteering and love has been put into these events and TCN is proud to say they got an exclusive interview with Mr. Alen Bošković, the director of the race, explaining the course of the project and the significance of the race to the city of Dubrovnik.

Tomorrow the half-marathon takes place and there will be a lot of traffic adjustments – we’ll let you know in time which roads will be closed. See you in Stradun!
