TCN brings you the itinerary of Croatian athletes’ participation at the Olympics (all times are in Central European Time Zone)
Here is the schedule for Croatian athletes on August 18, 2016, at the Olympics:
16.30 Taekwondo
Lucija Zaninović got as far as the quarter-finals yesterday, and lost in the last second of the battle versus France’s Yasmina Aziez, who she never had lost to in the past. Her twin sister, Ana starts her competition in -57 kg category today versus the Iranian Kimia Alizadeh. Filip Grgić begins his battle for the Olympic medal vs. Spain’s Joel Gonzalez Bonilla in the – 68 kg category 1/8 finals.
16.55 Athletics
Filip Mihaljević and Stipe Žunić start their qualification for the Olympic shot put finals. Five minutes later, Blanka Vlašić and Ana Šimić will commence the competition in the high jump. If the shot putters qualify for the finals, it is scheduled for Friday 01.50 am CET. The final of the female high jump competition is planned for Saturday. Sandra Kolak will compete in the finals of the javelin at 02.10 am on Friday. She had the third best throw in the qualifiers, so she will be a contender for the medal if she performs at her best.
17.20 Water Polo
Unfortunately, the Barracudas are the last Croatian team still in the competition at the Olympics. They play their semi-final match today vs. Montenegro, the team they managed to beat at the group stage, so one can only hope they will repeat the success, and qualify for the final, scheduled for Saturday.
18.50 Sailing
Šime Fantela and Igor Marenić were unable to get their medal yesterday, as there was no wind in Marina Da Gloria at the time scheduled for their medal race. Being so, it is rescheduled for today, so Zadar’s duo will try once more to defend their leading position and get the Olympic gold medal.
